As an Amplify Credit Union member, you have the option of opening additional member accounts - including checking accounts, savings accounts, money market accounts, and certificates of deposit - directly within online banking. In this section, we'll discuss how to open a new account in online banking. We'll also explain why our extra level of Single Sign-On (SSO) security can make a big difference in your account safety.

Why do I need a savings account?

If you are looking to take advantage of our competitive certificate of deposit (CD) or money market rates, you may wonder why you are first required to open a savings account. As a financial cooperative, Amplify Credit Union offers its customers - or "members," as they are known within the credit union industry - a direct financial stake in the future of the credit union. By opening a savings account at Amplify, our bylaws entitle you to the full benefits and services afforded to the rest of our community.

Why are existing members required to apply via online banking?

In 2020, we began requiring our existing members to log into online banking before opening additional Amplify accounts. This process allows us to pre-populate our application forms with existing member data and decreases the risk that comes with manually including sensitive information - such as your Social Security Number (SSN) or date of birth - in a new application.

How do I open a new account in online banking?

If you are an existing member, your first step will be to log into online banking. You can do this either at the Amplify Credit Union homepage or by logging into our mobile app on any Apple or Android device.

Once you log into online banking, you will be taken to your account dashboard. Follow the steps below to open a new account.

  • Click Apply/Open in the online banking sidebar. This will open a dropdown menu.
  • Select Open an Account in the dropdown menu.

Once you select Open an Account, you will be taken to Amplify Credit Union's web-based application portal. Here you can choose to open an individual account or take advantage of our express process and open several accounts at once. Select the product(s) you wish to include in your application and follow the steps outlined in the process.
